The only painted metal I managed to pick up at the London Show last month were these two examples of artillerymen from the short lived HM of BG Tudor World range, the chipped paint might need a bit of a touch up!
The gun is borrowed from somewhere else (Sikh artillery) but looks okay with these Tudor chaps, they will join the Monarch, Barzo and Chintoys Conquistadors to beef up the Wars of Religion project which is very slowly taking shape here. Rather neat little figures I think and an unusual subject.
This is the full set of Tudor figures from the HM of GB catalogue, the mounted figure of Henry VIII is really quite fine and I wouldn't mind getting a few more of these. The firm mostly made British Colonial figures back around 1990 and quite nice they were too, particularly a mule gun battery, they exhibited for several years at the Olympia Toy Trade Fair in London but despite this they never really took off with collectors.
Nice artillery crew Brian, they look good with the gun that you're using! If you're like me, I would have to find a Master Gunner to complete the set!
ReplyDeleteThere was a nice Master Gunner with the original set that I'd like to get but these don't turn up very often so I might have to convert one, at least I've got an idea now of what he should look like.
DeleteLovely figures Brian; I still have a copy of the catalogue you sent me some time ago. I am currently listening to an inspiring series of Youtube videos by David Starkey on the Tudors, in particular on Henry VIII, which just make me want to game the period in 54mm all the more!

ReplyDeleteHi Gill, yes I'd heard (on facebook I think) that you were bringing back the HM of GB range, I got to know the previous owners back when they used to take a stand at the International Toy Fair at Olympia, looking forward to getting some of these Tudors, I don't think anyone else makes anything like them. Do you have a website for them?
DeleteHi Brian, I don't have a website yet. I do have a Facebook page though with photos of what I have in production so far.
