You never know what will turn up at the PW Show each year, it's a perfect mélange of toy soldiers, all scales large and small, collectable rarities rub shoulders with terrible tat, it's anybody's game and it's always a lot of fun. I never go with any expectation of what I might find, mostly I'm looking out for figures to flesh out my 54mm toy soldier wargame armies and this year there was a bumper crop of Medievals:
When I have a little money, I buy Toy Soldiers; and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes. (with apologies to:) ERASMUS

Rare Sacul knights at the Plastic Warrior Show 2025
It has been three months now since the Plastic Warrior Show and we are still unearthing the goodies that emerged, here are some more:
The knight on the right has the correct Sacul shield (in plastic) which came with the original hollowcast figure, there is a spigot on the reverse which plugs into the bend in the left arm. It's curious to note that the horses are made in various colours of plastic and always appear to be factory painted in the Sacul style while the riders are made in a base body colour plastic with multi colour accoutrements in the early swoppet style, this has led us to speculate that the horses might have been produced first in the Sacul factory then sold as a job lot along with the moulds and the riders moulded at a later date.

American Revolution Swoppet conversions at the Plastic Warrior Show 2025
Dennis Donovan brought along more of his conversions for the American War of Independence, or as some would term it the American Revolutionary War, either way they are stunning figures and he has garnered a well earned reputation for them over the years.
Early on I bought several units of Dennis' cavalry conversions when I was building up wargame armies for the period, and some are shown in earlier posts on here, just wish I had the space to get some more!

Lots of toy soldiers at the Plastic Warrior Show 2025
Two weeks after the event and I am just recovering from the toy soldier overload that is the annual Plastic Warrior Show, I still haven't unpacked the bags and boxes of plunder I acquired but no doubt they'll surface here sooner or later. In the meantime here are a few gratuitous pictures of plastic toy soldiers to remind those those who were there on the day and to drool over for those who were not.

TRAVEL GUIDE
Directions to The Plastic Warrior Show
BY ROAD
From Outside London take M25, M3, A316, go over one roundabout and entrance to the winning Post is after 500 metres on your left.
From Inner London, after Richmond Circus follow A316 and continue straight on over three roundabouts. You will pass the Winning Post on your right. At the next roundabout take the fourth exit and entrance to the Winning Post will be on your left after 500 metres.
FREE PARKING. There is extensive free parking at the site and in the residential roads behind the Winning Post. The Harlequin Suite is to the right of the main building.
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
From Central London and the South of England by overground train (South Western Railways) from Waterloo or Clapham Junction to Whitton Station. There are eight trains an hour and the journey time is approx. 30 minutes, this is a loop line so four trains an hour run from two different platforms at Waterloo Station.
From the North of England by train to London arriving at Kings Cross, St. Pancras or Euston.
Take the London Underground Victoria line just six stops to Vauxhall and change for South Western Railways to Whitton Station as above. Whitton Station is just three minutes walk from the Winning Post. Turn left out of the station past Jubilee Avenue and Pauline Crescent, the next turning on your left is the entrance to the Winning Post.
Should you wish to take the London Underground to Richmond as in previous years, the easiest thing is to change platform and take a South Western Railways service to Whitton Station as above, (four trains an hour from Richmond, journey time eight minutes).
Alternatively you could get a black cab or a H22 bus from the taxi rank and bus stop outside the station.
Oyster cards are accepted on all London Underground lines, buses and South Western Railways to Whitton Station.
The Winning Post Inn
Opens from 08.00 to 11.00 serving breakfast or coffee for those who arrive early. The pub serves drinks from 11.00 and lunches from 12.00. There is a cashpoint on site but Whitton town centre, with a full range of shops and banks, is just three minutes walk from the hall.
Within the Winning Post complex is a Premier Inn travel hotel for those who want to break their journey and stay overnight.

Plastic Warrior 2023 - Conversions
Apart from collecting old toy soldiers and gaming I also like to convert and paint figures, sadly I don't get enough time for this part of the hobby but it gives me a great appreciation for the work of other people. Here are some I picked up at the show which will be gracing the games on my table at some point in the future.

Plastic Warrior 2023 - New stuff
Peter Cole of Replicants usually launches his new figures at the Plastic Warrior Show and here is this year's offering. Two sets (4 figures in each) of medieval peasants, and they are revolting, as they did!

Plastic Warrior Show 2023
The PW Show has been running annually since 1985 (2 years COVID lockdown excepted), and on Saturday someone said to me "It pretty much runs itself now doesn't it". Well, no it doesn't, there are always problems, there are so many things outside of our control, and the Gods love to have fun with mortals who make plans. This year they had a lot of fun and we had a lot of challenges but the support and camaraderie of the enthusiasts who overcame the travel problems and turned up carried the day. So if you were one of them, thank you, you're the ones who really make the show.
